Hydroxycut recalled – Liver damaged reported at recommended
doses. The FDA has put out a warning and recall on the Hydroxycut Diet Pill.

The Food and Drug Administration said the company that makes the dietary supplement has agreed to recall 14 Hydroxycut products. Available in grocery stores and pharmacies, Hydroxycut is advertised as made from natural ingredients. At least 9 million packages were sold last year, the FDA news said.

Symptoms included jaundice, brown urine, nausea, vomiting, light-colored stools, excessive fatigue, weakness, stomach or abdominal pain, itching and loss of appetite.
Hydroxycut accounts for roughly 90 percent of the market for weight loss supplements, with sales of about 1 million bottles a year.

The FDA does not regulate supplements with the same authority it does pharmaceuticals. Producers do not have to have an FDA approval nor inspection of the products for safety or efficacy before being sold to consumers.
