In Germany, marshmallow root and leaf are both licensed as standard medicinal teas
  • Green tea – used as a diuretic for centuries in China
  • Dandelion – improves functioning of the kidneys
  • Stinging nettle – the roots are especially useful as a diuretic, although all parts have diuretic properties
  • Linden – the flowers can increase urine production
  • Fennel – the volatile oil seems to be responsible for its diuretic action
  • Cornsilk is used to soothe the urinary tract and can give relief to the bladder, kidneys and small intestine. Assists with prostate problems, bed wetting, carpel tunnel syndrome, edema, and obesity. It has also been used to lessen the effects of pms bloating, and it promotes relaxation.

Symptoms of edema include high blood pressure, headaches, increased urination, heart palpitations, swollen hands, wrists, fingers, waist, feet or ankles; puffy eyes; and weight gain of more than five pounds in one week.

Some treatments for edema Avoid alcohol, animal protein, caffeine, chocolate, dairy products, gravies, olives, pickles, salt, soy sauce, white flour and white sugar. Do not use tobacco in any form. Reduce salt and preservative intake. If diuretics are used, be sure to supplement the body’s supply of magnesium, calcium, zinc and potassium.

There are four forms of edema:

  • Anasarca edema is generalized swelling over the entire body.
  • Dependent edema is swelling in the feet, ankles, legs, face and neck.
  • Periobital edema involves swelling around the eyes.
  • Corneal edema causes swelling in the cornea of the eye.
  • Preeclampsia is a condition that occurs in 5% of pregnant women that results in high blood pressure, edema and protein in the urine.

There are many possible causes of edema / water retention
Edema may be triggered by allergies or serious disorders of the kidney, bladder, heart or liver. Other causes of edema include poor diet; drug abuse, over use of laxatives or diuretics, bloat from birth control pills, poor kidney function, heart problems, protein deficiency, varicose veins, sodium retention, poor magnesium/calcium balance, pms bloating, pregnancy, or a high carbohydrate diet.

Gravelroot, Cornsilk, Dandelion Root, Butcher’s Broom and Marshmallow Root are beneficial in treatment of edema, if you decide to use natural diuretics.

Diuretic Weight Loss is big nowadays, (green tea diuretic) and everyone claims to have the ideal herbal diuretic.
Green Teas Parts used:

  • Leaf bud
  • Young leaf
  • Key action:
  • Antioxidant
  • Astringent
  • Diuretic
  • Stimulant

Tea has warming and tonic properties, endearing to those working in a cold. It is best avoided during pms. Research has repeatedly shown that caffeine leads to worsening of symptoms and may be unhelpful during menopause, as it can increase hot flashes.

“Tea Quality” Green tea is produced by lightly steaming the freshly cut bud and leaf, leaving the active constituents largely intact. High quality teas such as oolong tea, which is made with the youngest tea leaf buds-have the highest levels of polyphenols.

When you come across herbal tea, diuretic weight loss pills, and natural diuretics for bloating, check the ingredients listed on the bottle. Even when shopping online check the information for a product. If it doesn’t offer up what’s exactly is in the diuretic, don’t buy it. You are more than likely getting ripped off!.

Sometimes companies have diuretic herbals in their product, but not enough to do what it says it will do. Do your homework! I do mine that is why I am here informing you on different diuretic herbs. Diuretics and blood pressure such as hydrochlorothiazide is not a natural diuretic and is prescribed by a physician.

Herbal Tea and diuretics! What can be classed as a diuretic weight loss tea. Green Teas are a natural diuretic, but not all Herbal Teas are diuretics, such as they use at times in Green Tea Diets or I should say potent enough to be classed as a weight loss diuretic tea full of antioxidants and catechins and lest we forget polyphenols A great Herbal Green Tea should be made from tender young leafs, and not have the stock, stems or roots mixed in.
